Kaizer Chiefs Eye Final Transfer Coup: Could These Strikers Seal the Deal?

Kaizer Chiefs may not be done in the transfer market just yet. With the PSL transfer window closing in the coming weeks, the Soweto giants are reportedly considering adding one more striker to their squad — a move that could make them serious title contenders.

So far, Chiefs have signed 10 new players this window, including two forwards: Flavio Silva and Etiosa Ighodaro. The club also parted ways with Ranga Chivaviro. Despite the additions, insiders believe another top-tier striker could elevate the team to a dominant force in the DStv Premiership.

Defensively, Chiefs have been solid — they remain the only team in the league yet to concede a goal after five matches.

Who Could Be Chiefs’ Next Striking Option?

One name currently on the radar is former Orlando Pirates striker Zakhele Lepasa, now a free agent. While the tall forward was recently linked with a move to Durban City, coach Gavin Hunt poured cold water on the likelihood of that transfer.

“I let the management handle it; I’m not getting involved. I can only do what I can do,” Hunt said when asked about Lepasa.

“We all know we need to certainly get another one or two in. We’ve got 17 outfield players and three goalkeepers. So, yes, reinforcements are necessary — especially in key positions.

“We’ve known this since the start of the season. But when it comes to free agents, there are always complexities. Let’s not kid ourselves.”

Chiefs Still in the Race for Khanyisa Mayo?

Another player who could be on Kaizer Chiefs’ radar is Khanyisa Mayo. The former Cape Town City striker is reportedly set to leave Algerian club CR Belouizdad in the coming days. Mayo had been heavily linked to Chiefs before his move to North Africa last year.

CR Belouizdad head coach Sead Ramovic confirmed Mayo’s imminent departure in a recent interview with iDiski Times.

“It was my decision, and it was not an easy one,” Ramovic said.

“Mayo is a true professional, and I have the utmost respect for him. But in football, it’s about timing, the right role for the player, and the overall strategy of the team.

“At this stage, I believe a new challenge would be the best opportunity for him to continue playing at the highest level. I truly wish him every success in the next chapter of his career.”
